Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA)

Quality, Speed, Repeatability with Prefab and Modular

Our DfMA services help owners, contractors, and design teams deliver complex projects with greater speed, consistency, and reliability. By shifting critical decision-making into the design phase and applying lean manufacturing methods, we reduce risk, improve quality, and create systems that perform better from day one.

A Forward-Thinking Approach

DfMA requires vision and commitment. Instead of relying on traditional workflows, builders who embrace DfMA plan early, think strategically, and collaborate across disciplines to maximize value.

Designed for Efficiency

Unlike traditional prefabrication, DfMA integrates manufacturing principles into the design process itself. That means fewer unique parts, more repeatable assemblies, and greater opportunities for mass production.

Accelerated Schedules

DfMA components are treated as critical-path milestones, similar to owner-furnished equipment. With on-time delivery rates above 98 percent, projects move with greater predictability.

Smarter Labor Partnerships

Skilled labor shortages challenge every project. DfMA shifts work into controlled environments where precision, safety, and productivity are higher.

Superior Quality and Safety

Controlled shop conditions lead to better outcomes. Welders, fabricators, and assemblers deliver higher-quality systems with fewer risks than working 50 feet in the air or in weather-exposed conditions.

Lean, Sustainable Practices

DfMA facilities are more than fabrication shops. They follow proven manufacturing principles of standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement. The result is less material waste and more sustainable builds.

Precision at the Design Phase

Traditional prefabrication often begins late in the design cycle. DfMA starts early, requiring advanced modeling (LOD 450+) to ensure every component is coordinated, tested, and ready for assembly.

A Dedicated Project Within the Project

DfMA is not an afterthought. We manage it as a stand-alone scope, with dedicated planning, project management, and quality oversight to keep production and delivery on track.

Proven Value Across Project Types

From large-scale serial builds to projects in labor-constrained markets, DfMA reduces risk, accelerates delivery, and ensures systems perform as designed. For owners and partners, this results in faster occupancy, reduced rework, and long-term savings.

Our Offsite Fabrication & Manufacturing Facilities

Our fabrication facilities in Colorado and Kansas currently feature nearly 300,000 sq ft of manufacturing space and over 50 acres of laydown yard, positioning us to deliver piping, plumbing, steel, sheet metal, and multi-trade products across the mainland United States and beyond. Our planned expansion will give us over 500,000 sq ft of fabrication space by 2027.

U.S. Engineering revolutionizes offsite fabrication. Our innovative manufacturing technology, large offsite facilities, clean room capabilities, and logistical expertise ensure efficiency, quality, and safety. We keep you on schedule no matter the scale of your project or labor constraints.
