October 2026 at U.S. Engineering: Field Excellence, Future Talent, and Community

October 30, 2026

October opened our organization’s new fiscal year with appreciation, mentoring, and giving back to communities from Colorado to Alabama.

Recognizing Field Teams

When an aerospace customer had a chilled water pressure drop, USE Construction’s Rocky Mountain region team redesigned and rebalanced the process chilled water system to fix it, even though the program equipment came with no specifications. The customer’s project manager followed up with a note of thanks: “You are the gold standard.”

The Rocky Mountain Construction team also thanked our Field leadership with its third annual clay shoot, where Team Members competed across 15 sponsored stations. Congratulations to individual and team winners.

Investing in the Next Generation

At the MCAA GreatFutures Forum in St. Louis, USE Construction Preconstruction Manager Sarabeth Gandara and Clay Daniels, President of USE Service, presented to MCAA student chapters from across the country. USE Construction Senior Project Manager Ryan Purdy also attended and spent the event connecting with students and industry peers.

On October 22, seven Team Members visited University Academy, a Kansas City charter school and U.S. Engineering Service customer, to meet with NSBE Jr. (National Society of Black Engineers) robotics student leaders. Multiple USE Team Members told the students about their roles and the paths that led them there, from college degrees to local apprenticeships. At the end of the visit, the students showed our team the robotics projects they’re working on now.

People and Projects on Camera

This month’s video spotlights took us across our regions. At Metalworks Johnstown facility, Safety and Quality Assurance Manager Jason Cain talks about giving everyone a voice in keeping each other safe. USE Construction Senior Preconstruction Manager Kevin Esslinger explains how our team planned for expansive soils on a new high school for the St. Vrain Valley School District in Colorado. We also looked back at the Lenexa Justice Center, which USE Construction completed in 2024.

Our most recent video features Mark Horton, a third-year plumbing apprentice with UA Local 3 at the U.S. Engineering Metalworks fabrication facility in Johnstown. Mark talks about his work fitting cut pipe into prefabricated plumbing spools.

Giving Back to Communities

On October 16, USE Construction’s Midwest region team hosted the USE Open, a golf tournament benefiting Veterans Community Project, which provides homes and support services for Veterans experiencing homelessness. Team Members, trade partners, sponsors, and clients played through tough weather and raised $64,360 for VCP. The next day in Denver, Team Members, families, and friends joined the Women in the Mechanical Industry (WiMI) Rocky Mountain Chapter at the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk to support breast cancer research and patient care.

In West Memphis, U.S. Engineering Innovations and ENFRA helped our project partners host a trick-or-treat event for more than 1,500 kids, and the team’s Jurassic Park booth won best booth. In Alabama, U.S. Engineering Innovations collected money for book fairs at three Jackson County schools. In Westminster, Colorado, Team Members spent a day cleaning up our one-mile Adopt-A-Street section of Huron Street.

Thank you to every Team Member who gave their time this month!
