Kansas City Business Journal ranked U.S. Engineering 7th on its list of the area’s largest family-owned businesses, by revenue. We’re honored to be the highest-ranked local mechanical contractor. Our CEO, Tyler Nottberg, is the fifth-generation Nottberg to lead the company. He served as a project engineer, project manager and vice president before taking on the role of CEO.

This List is generated from 2020 revenue, and U.S. Engineering’s $347 million places seventh after Suave Automotive Group, Favorite Healthcare Staffing, Olathe Ford Lincoln, Lockton Cos., Hallmark Cards Inc. and Seaboard Corp.

The List shows that Kansas City is home to some lasting family-owned businesses. U.S. Engineering has been around for over 125 years, but several other family businesses on the List were formed before it, a testament to the deep roots that sustain local business in the City of Fountains. From the List: Goetze Dental Co. was founded in 1884, Tension Corp. in 1886, Reeves-Wiedeman Co. in 1887 and Schweiger Construction Co. in 1889. U.S. Engineering’s Gustav Nottberg opened shop in Kansas City in 1893.
