UMKC New Student Union
Kansas City, MO
University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC)
The UMKC New Student Union building was built to replace the existing student union, originally constructed in 1961. The four-story facility houses offices, a two-story bookstore, dining areas, a coffee shop, theater, and student common areas. The project required a collaborative approach to meet the building requirements, as well as proactive solutions for future mechanical tie-ins. This project achieved a LEED® Certification by evaluating the cost and operational impacts to multiple LEED® options in order to reach the Gold threshold within the budget.
