The Stowers Institute for Medical Research Support Facility renovation consisted of converting a warehouse and storage facility into new research laboratories, lab support space, a data center, a vivarium, and a new central plant. The vivarium housed up to 12,000 cages with the ability to nearly double its capacity.  The primary function of the vivarium is to house a core colony.  Using modular construction, the animal rooms were factory constructed using multi-trade prefabrication and transported to the site. The project also included a new incubator scale lab for BioMed Valley Discoveries (BVD), a R&D organization that develops basic biomedical discoveries into applications to improve human health.
