Tim Moormeier Honored with MCAA’s Distinguished Service Award

Mar 06, 2025

U.S. Engineering

The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has recognized Tim Moormeier, president of U.S. Engineering Holdings, with its highest honor, the 2025 Distinguished Service Award (DSA). This award celebrates individuals whose leadership and dedication have had a lasting impact on the mechanical contracting industry. Tim’s contributions—particularly his work modernizing WebLEM, the industry’s labor estimating manual—made him a natural choice for this recognition.

Tim received the award at the MCAA National Convention in Austin, Texas, in a moment of true celebration surrounded by colleagues, family, and friends. He was caught completely off guard as his wife, daughter, grandchild and more than 20 U.S. Engineering teammates and industry peers joined him on stage to celebrate his achievement. Their presence reflected the deep respect and appreciation for Tim’s leadership and influence—both at U.S. Engineering and across the industry.

Transforming WebLEM for the Industry

During his tenure as Co-Chair of the MCAA WebLEM Committee, Tim played a pivotal role in the system’s evolution. What was once a bulky, 10-pound printed binder became a streamlined digital platform, revolutionizing how contractors access and apply labor estimates. Under Tim’s guidance, the WebLEM+Plus platform was developed, offering MCAA members an even more robust tool tailored to industry advancements.

Beyond the technology, Tim’s leadership shaped the expansion of labor values, system updates, and the training of new committee members, ensuring WebLEM remained relevant, accurate, and user-friendly. His vision and commitment have left a lasting impact, benefiting contractors, manufacturers, and MCAA staff for years to come.

Leadership at U.S. Engineering

Tim’s influence extends far beyond WebLEM. Since joining U.S. Engineering in 1996, he has driven key initiatives in off-site manufacturing, service innovations, and sustainability efforts, helping position the company at the forefront of industry change.

His commitment to mentorship and community outreach is equally significant. He has been actively involved in STEM education, working with organizations like the KC STEM Alliance and the KC Engineering Zone to inspire and empower students through robotics and engineering education.

Reflecting on Tim’s contributions, Tyler Nottberg, Chairman & CEO of U.S. Engineering, said, “Tim’s leadership, innovation, and dedication have made a lasting impact on our company, the industry, and the people around him. His work with MCAA and WebLEM has shaped the way contractors operate, and his passion for mentorship ensures the next generation is ready to lead. Tim deserves every bit of this recognition!”

Tim’s impact on U.S. Engineering, the industry, and the next generation of talent is remarkable. His leadership, vision, and service have set new standards for excellence.

Please join us in congratulating Tim on this well-earned recognition.
