May 03, 2024
Congratulations to Tom Poeling, Director of Energy and Sustainability, for receiving the 2024 David and Donna Howard Award from the Colorado Association of Healthcare Engineers and Directors (CAHED). This award recognizes Tom’s contributions to the organization and the broader healthcare community, particularly his efforts to drive sustainability.
The David and Donna Howard Award, named in honor of David and Donna Howard’s contributions to CAHED, is given to select members for their service and long-term contributions. The CAHED Board of Directors selects recipients based on their impact on the organization and the healthcare community.
Tom Poeling has played a key role in promoting sustainability within the healthcare sector. His leadership in organizing and hosting a monthly webinar series on new state and local building performance standards has been important in educating and guiding professionals in the field. These webinars have become a resource for understanding and implementing sustainable practices.
“I remember the influence that Dave and Donna had in serving the healthcare community in Colorado and I am grateful to receive the award with their name associated with it,” Tom said. “I want to thank the CAHED board for this award and want to put a spotlight on the work on the CAHED Sustainability Committee. This committee had actively provided advocacy and training to our members related to many sustainability topics. Many of our committee are working closely with hospital administrators and facilities personnel to drive energy efficiency and sustainability at the grassroots level.”
The entire U.S. Engineering team congratulates Tom Poeling for this recognition. His work in sustainability and his efforts to advance industry standards continue to inspire us all.
