NEWS & INSIGHTS > News > Watch: International Team Member Exchange Program
Feb 04, 2024
U.S. Engineering and two international contractors, NG Bailey from the UK and A.G. Coombs from Australia, formed a peer group a few years ago. This alliance enables each organization to share best practices and learn from similar businesses that operate in their own markets in their respective countries. Out of that partnership, the idea for our International Peer-to-Peer Team Member Exchange Program was born.
Participants from each company embed for several weeks with another company, learning how other teams operate, how they approach projects, and what conversations they’re having around innovation. By offering a team member exchange program, U.S. Engineering, NG Bailey, and A.G. Coombs are committing not only to the growth of our organizations, but also to industry progression and the professional development of our people.
In the inaugural class of the exchange program, U.S. Engineering sent Ryan Reed, Solutions Architect, to the UK to join peers at NG Bailey and Lauren Wilson, Project Manager – Strategic Initiatives, to Australia to work with A.G. Coombs.
“I love to travel, and I’ve worked at U.S. Engineering since I was in college,” Lauren said. “It can be challenging to gain the perspective of another business without leaving the one you’re at, so this was the best of both worlds: I got to travel and gain the perspective of another company.”
On his experience with NG Bailey, Ryan notes, “This program expanded my global mindset, allowing me to build strategic connections and generate actionable ideas to sharpen U.S. Engineering’s competitive edge.”
In this video, Lauren and Ryan talk about their experience, and U.S. Engineering Holdings CEO Tyler Nottberg and President Tim Moormeier talk about the benefits of the program.
U.S. Engineering welcomed Engineer Paul Adcock from A.G. Coombs and Project Manager Nick Rixon from NG Bailey. They, and NG Bailey Transformation Manager Kristina Spachis, who worked with Lauren at A.G. Coombs, discuss their experiences with the exchange program in this video.
