Operations Director Bill Hazlett Attends CO National Guard Bosslift

Sep 19, 2023

U.S. Engineering

On Saturday, September 9, U.S. Engineering Construction Operations Director Bill Hazlett accompanied 1st Lieutenant Erik Trenary, U.S. Engineering Construction Project Engineer, at the 2-135th Aviation Regiment ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) Bosslift Event at Buckley Space Force Base.

The ESGR is a Department of Defense program U.S. Engineering participates in that promotes cooperation between the Reserve Components and Civilian Employers. This event offers employers an up-close view of what their team members do outside of work as National Guard soldiers. In addition to his role at U.S. Engineering, Erik is a Platoon Leader and UH-60 Blackhawk pilot for the Colorado Army National Guard.

On the event, Bill commented, “I learned about the National Guard’s role at the state and federal level and toured the CW5 David R. Carter Army Aviation Support Facility. A highlight for me was getting to ride along in a UH-60 Blackhawk over the Denver metro area.”

Bill went on to say, “It was an amazing experience to talk with these soldiers and see firsthand some of the strenuous work they do while maintaining civilian careers. Erik, for example, as a pilot, has a particularly rigorous schedule of weekly training and flight certification, all while he’s holding down a full-time job with US Engineering and supporting his wife and two small children. Thank you to Erik and all servicemembers for the sacrifices they make to defend our state and country.”
