The facility is a Level 5 facility and is the largest of the Colorado Department of Corrections. It can house up to 2,585 inmates and employs approximately 800 people. This project was established for ECM’s (Energy Conservation Measures) and includes the installation of multiple energy-efficient mechanical systems. After a 14-year period, the mechanical upgrades are projected to bring the Sterling Correctional Facility $7,277,827 worth of energy savings.
