Sterling Correctional Facility

The Sterling Correctional Facility opened in 1999 with 850,000 sq ft of building space.

The facility is a Level 5 facility and is the largest of the Colorado Department of Corrections. It can house up to 2,585 inmates and employs approximately 800 people. This project was established for ECM’s (Energy Conservation Measures) and includes the installation of multiple energy-efficient mechanical systems. After a 14-year period, the mechanical upgrades are projected to bring the Sterling Correctional Facility $7,277,827 worth of energy savings.

  • (3) 750 – ton chillers, cooling towers, fan coil units
  • (89) air handling units with piping modification and control valve upgrades
