This unique and multi-faceted project included holding cells, a sally port, evidence labs, vehicle processing bays, 911 dispatch, tactics training areas, K9 areas, cold storage rooms, offices, conference rooms and a public meeting room.
The mechanical system included two DX evaporative condensing rooftop units that serve the entire building with hot water reheat VAV boxes. On this project, these energy-efficient units struck a balance between first costs, green design and innovative solutions.
Other LEED® principles included waterless urinals and low-flow lavatories that reduced water use by 48%. The modulating heating water boilers, 87% efficient, reduced the building energy costs by 26%. A smoke-exhaust system serves the three-story atrium.
