May 18, 2017
The City of Fort Collins Utilities Service Center project was a major renovation in which U.S. Engineering removed the existing HVAC system and installed a new, highly efficient ground source heat pump system.
In addition to the use of a one-pipe condenser water distribution system, the condenser heat exchanger was installed in a nearby pond. The innovative approach was completed with collaboration from the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, which inspected and approved the plan, confirming that the approach was safe for the pond and wildlife.
This six-minute video from the City of Fort Collins describes the new system and provides insight into the goals for the project. The video provides owner perspective on the value of the work done to improve the facility and reduce their Total Cost of Ownership.
