This project was sanctioned for a new plant for the National Nuclear Security Administration, which produces the nonnuclear components of nuclear weapons. Included in the project scope was a renovation of the existed nuclear arsenal. The goal of the construction was to reduce the energy costs for the federal government. Overall, the building reached a LEED Gold certification and will ultimately save the government about $100 million per year in operational costs.
