Colorado Territorial Correction Facility
Cañon City, CO
Colorado Department of Corrections
Johnson Controls, Inc.
Constructed in 1871, the Colorado Territorial Correction Facility is the oldest correction facility in the State of Colorado. U.S. Engineering served as the mechanical contractor for a renovation project that was established for Energy Conservation Measures (ECM’s.) The project team successfully completed construction on schedule, while working around inmate “lock downs” that required the stoppage of work, and strict tracking of materials. As part of the construction, the U.S. Engineering project team had to route a 400 ft. gas line into the existing steam and gun tunnels, which ran beneath the river. As a result of this project, the Colorado Territorial Correction Facility saw significant energy savings.
