Chillicothe Correctional Center
Chillicothe, Missouri

U.S. Engineering Company was the mechanical team in place for the proposal, design and construction of this 465,000 square-foot correctional facility for the State of Missouri. During early proposal stages, the design-build team used a collaborative approach to define scopes of work and hard pricing, all prior to the design stage.

The project includes approximately 10 separate buildings including a central heating and cooling plant with above-ground distribution piping. The inmate buildings utilize multizone air handling units with energy recovery wheels for maximum efficiency. An integrated building automation system ties all the buildings' HVAC systems together for effective management of the multi-building facility.

This project was the recipient of the DBIA March 2009 Design Build Merit Award as Best Project in Public Sector - large category.
