February 9, 2012 – The Todd Bolender Center for Dance and Creativity, named for former Artistic Director Todd Bolender, who passed away in 2006, is a testament to the artist vision he imbued. Check out the project portfolio by Architectural Record here.
U.S. Engineering Company spearheaded the design and construction of the facility’s mechanical system. The project, which was an adaptive reuse of a waning historic building, required complex design and construction techniques. The mechanical design had to be tightly coordinated with the unique architectural elements of the building. For example, the facility includes nine different Air Handling Units to condition the diverse occupancies in the building.
The design was also mindful of the strict sound requirements in the dance studios. Working with the entire design team, U.S. Engineering was able to design a mechanical system that not only met the sound requirements, but enhanced the overall functionality of the system.
