Senior Project Manager (Loveland, CO and Kansas City, MO)

Position Description:

The Senior Project manager is a vital part of the U.S. Engineering team and holds responsibility for overseeing the profitability and success of the project. The Sr. PM gets engaged from the preparation and review of estimates, through the construction phase, and takes charge of all activities from the start to on-time and on-budget completion. Responsibilities include supervising all facets of the job, including coordinating a multi-disciplinary team, scheduling, estimating, change orders, generation and completion of schedule of values for billings, projections, buyout, and job closeout. The Senior Project Manager plays a key role with developing and nurturing client relationships, and will be involved in company strategic initiatives.

Qualifications required:

Minimum of 15 years experience with project management in full mechanical construction, including diversity in types of projects, such as commercial, institutional, government, advanced technology, and industrial. Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Construction Science Management, Architectural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering - however, equivalent combination of field leadership experience supervising the mechanical trades may be substituted. Must have thorough knowledge of mechanical construction industry practices/processes, leadership skills to maximize the performance of project team, and superior communication and interpersonal skills.  Willingness to travel or manage projects in remote locations as needed highly preferred.

Preconstruction Manager (Loveland, CO and Spring Hill, TN)

Position Description:

Design / Engineering:

  • Conceptually finish the design on incomplete decision documents, ensuring competitive and complete proposals.
  • Review of design documents for evaluation of project, cost impact, and schedule impact.
  • Generate and/or review engineering calculations by the design engineer.
  • Generate value engineering and design options for projects, including consultation with Owners, General Contractors, Architects, and Engineers.
  • Perform life cycle cost analysis of systems and options to generate desirable outcomes for potential clients.
  • Generate schematic drawings of systems for consultation.
  • Manage the design progress on design-assist and design-build projects in terms of scope control, schedule impact and coordination.
  • Lead the electrical and general coordination on design-assist and design-build projects.
  • Serve as a resource for Project Managers and Field personnel on design issues.
  • Provide solutions to engineering applications both internally and externally.

Estimating:

  • Generate budget estimates along with scope definition from incomplete design information
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a preliminary estimating method, format and process, that meets our preliminary estimating goals.
  • Update preliminary estimates until final design is complete.  Identify and track scope changes as part of estimate updates.
  • Generate and maintain database of estimating information from past projects, as coordinated with estimating staff.

Critical Path Schedule Items:

  • Partner with Project Manager to review GC's project schedule to identify potential issues.
  • Develop preliminary mechanical project schedules, soliciting input from the Project Manager and Superintendent as necessary) to identify major work tasks, preconstruction efforts, equipment delivery, phasing issues and design milestones.
  • Assist the Project Manager for updates to the project schedule until preconstruction ends.

Marketing:

  • Develop and foster effective relationships with clients who possess decision making authority.
  • Take support role in marketing of design-assist and design-build projects as coordinated with regional leadership.
  • Participate in the development of marketing materials that will aid in business development.

Miscellaneous:

  • Assist regional leaders with the review of contracts on design-assist and design-build projects to ensure acceptable language and contractual obligations.
  • Provide training on design-related topics to the Project Managers, as appropriate.
  • Serve as mentor, role model and trainer to other regional staff.
  • Conduct regulatory and code investigations for compliance.
  • Aid in project pursuits through the preparation of proposals, from RFP through interview preparation and participation.
  • Attend weekly Project Managers meetings and weekly Estimating/Preconstruction staff meetings.
  • Serves as a resource to Project Manager on the management of scope and budget items.
  • Coordinates with Project Manager to perform constructability reviews.
  • Maintains direct involvement in the project - from inception to closeout.
  • Partners with Project Manager during project closeout to ensure the proper efficiency and performance of the mechanical systems.

Qualifications required:

  • Engineering degree and P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration preferred.
  • Previous experience in preconstruction services; or minimum of 8 years experience in design of HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing engineering
  • Engineering design expertise
  • Ability to manage to a budget, which requires basic financial acumen
  • Proficient in MS Excel

Project Engineer (Kansas City, Missouri)

Position Description:

The Project Engineer will support mechanical construction project work under the general supervision of the Executive Project Manager.   The Project Engineer will be assigned to large projects, located on the project sites.  Responsibilities will include:  writing RFIs and proposal letters; submittal and specification reviews; document and budget control; estimating change orders; schedule development; maintain procurement, proposal and correspondence logs; quality control; product selection; man power loading charts; productivity reports; writing change orders; developing O&M manuals; cost coding; materials coordination; deliveries; start ups;  safety programs and commissioning; value engineering; forecasting, and other project related functions

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering preferred (new graduates are welcome to apply) - or will consider an individual with 3-5 years technical or administrative experience in HVAC, piping, and plumbing at a commercial, industrial, or institutional level.   Must be self motivated and team oriented; must have good time management skills, and display a sense of urgency and strong work ethic.  Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are a must.

 Senior Mechanical Estimator (Kansas City, MO and Loveland, CO)

Position Description

Responsible for the estimating activities for assigned regional projects, including bid preparation, following established estimating protocol, final bid tabulation, and client relationship management. Position requires management of bid day activities, risk assessment and sub/supplier relationship management.  

Qualifications Required: 

  • Minimum of 10 years experience performing mechanical estimating.
  • Prefer experience with larger jobs, in excess of $10 million in mechanical value.
  • Experience working with QuickPen AutoBid Mechanical, QuoteExpress or similar software.
  • Prefer broad industry experience with HVAC - including commercial and institutional, as well as industrial.

Safety Director (Kansas City, MO)

Primary Purpose:   Plans, develops, implements and supervises corporate and regional safety, health, and environmental protection programs that support our core value "to ensure a safe working environment".  Responsible for the development of safety standards and safety training, as well as safety monitoring compliance, and recognition programs. 

  • Keeps current on construction industry safety standards and consistently monitors the corporate safety program to ensure best practices in safety.
  • Provides leadership, administrative and technical direction on all corporate safety and health programs, procedures, and policies.   Makes recommendations to corporate Management Committee on all safety-related issues.
  • At a regional level, provides direction to division leaders as well as project leaders to ensure compliance with all safety and incident programs, procedures and policies.
  • At a project-specific level, collaborates with project management to provide technical and administrative direction to on-site Field Safety Coordinators and other field personnel, including staffing and personnel administration activities, etc.   
  • Leads the corporate safety committee in achieving strategic goals related to safety.
  • Develops and implements corporate safety recognition programs that effectively reward employees for ensuring a safe working environment.  Regularly communicates the status of corporate safety records.
  • Develops and facilitates safety training programs, including field employee safety orientation, as well as regular safety training on a variety of topics.
  • Controls hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management and collaboration with other operations supervisory personnel.
  • Conducts proactive jobsite surveillance / inspections, and prepares reports.
  • Develops and implements the corporate Crisis Management Plan.  This involves documenting the plan, communicating, and training all employees regarding their responsibilities to the plan.
  • Thoroughly investigates all safety incidents and prepares the appropriate documentation, then communicates the status of incidents to management in accordance to corporate procedures.
  • Works closely with the company's Manager of Corporate Risk to minimize liability and worker's compensation costs.
  • Monitors the return-to-work process for injured employees to minimize the impact of an injured worker returning to a jobsite.  Assists in identifying work an injured worker can perform.
  • Represents the company in all safety related hearings (OSHA, etc.).   
  • May participate in the procurement phase or pre-job meetings and develops site specific safety plans that include site specific training when required. 
  • Responsible for purchasing and/or approving purchases for the company's safety supplies and personal protective equipment, as well as other safety program expenses. 
  • Reviews safety incident documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implements appropriate corrective action as required. 
  • Accompanies all safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.  Coordinates or assists in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations.
  • Manages the existing drug and alcohol testing procedures in all geographic areas.   

Qualifications Required:.

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health preferred.  Other related degree programs or equivalent combinations of training and industry-related experience will be considered. 
  • Minimum of  5 years experience performing a safety role in the construction industry required
  • Prefer prior supervisory experience, including oversight of safety training programs.
  • Thorough understanding of all federal, state, and local construction safety regulations.
  • Understanding of mechanical construction industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Possesses superior interpersonal skills, such as diplomacy, persuasion, assertiveness and managerial courage.
  • Ability to analyze the company's strengths and potential weak areas in relation to safety and develop proactive process improvements to ensure best practices.
  • Skill in classroom instruction and in facilitating effective individual and group learning.  This includes the ability to plan effective training programs, deliver the necessary content, and evaluate and consistently improve the programs.
  • Excellent ability to establish and foster effective professional relationships with others, including employees at all levels of the company, vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Routine driving to local/regional project sites required.
